Adherence to platelet transfusion guidelines
Studies suggest that neonatal platelet transfusion practices have not changed significantly after the publication of the PlaNeT-2 Trial.
To investigate this further and identify barriers to practice change, this project will investigate platelet transfusions at 12 NeoHeaT centers that have established platelet transfusion guidelines.
The goal of this study is to assess adherence to guideline specifications at each participating center by prospectively analyzing transfusions to ascertain:
Transfusion indication(s)
Adherence with unit-specific platelet transfusion guidelines
Reason for deviation from guideline (if applicable).
